3.02 The OSH Regulation

Under Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) 1994

According to DOSH, the OSH Regulation:

‘provides standards or outcomes in relation to the workplace and work environment, specific industries and hazards. It adopts a systematic risk management approach, which means that hazards and their associated risk must be managed systematically, in response to the results of risk assessments.
  1. Occupational Safety And Health (Employers' Safety And Health General Policy Statements) (Exception) Regulations 1995
  2. Occupational Safety And Health (Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards) Regulations 1996
  3. Occupational Safety And Health (Safety And Health Committee) Regulations 1996
  4. Occupational Safety And Health (Classification, Packaging And Labelling of Hazardous' Chemicals) Regulations 1997
  5. Occupational Safety And Health (Safety And Health Officer) Regulations 1997
  6. Occupational Safety And Health (Use And Standards Of Exposure Of Chemicals Hazardous To Health) Regulations 2000
  7. Occupational Safety And Health (Notification of Accident, Dangerous Occurrence, Occupational Poisoning and Occupational Disease) Regulations 2004
DOSH further states:

'The OSH Regulation can adopt or incorporate other relevant publications (such as standards and codes of practice), where appropriate. This means that the information contained in the document becomes law.'

XYZ personnel should pay particular attention to (MS 1722 : 2003):
  • Clause 3.1.3 : Employee participation;
  • Clause 3.2.4 : Communication;
  • Clause 3.3.2 : System planning, development and implementation;
